Question Answer
What is the difference between a relay/lan/dedicated server? A relay server is a server that is hosted by the development team, and allows a person to "host" a server and play with friends privately. A relay server is the best kind of server for someone who wants to play the base-game privately with friends, as port forwarding is not required and the server is maintained by the development team.

A LAN server is a server that is hosted by the person who creates it and play with friends privately. If hosting a LAN server, the host must port forward to play with players outside of their local network.

A dedicated server is a server that is hosted by a community member, and is visible publicly on the server list for anyone to connect to. A dedicated server must be port forwarded, and are required to follow rules to retain their statuses on the server list. Anyone can connect to dedicated servers, as they are public lobbies.
What is the difference between the "Serverlist" and the "Join Public Lobby" pages? The Serverlist is full of dedicated servers that are hosted on a computer or server by the SCP:ET developers and/or the community. Dedicated servers may have their own Discord server related to the server, and may contain multiple staff members, plugins, etc. These dedicated servers are typically longer-lasting and have their own communities. On the other hand, the Join Public Lobby page consists of Relay lobbies that were created by a player on the main menu, do not have their own communities, and are removed as soon as the host disconnects.
What is the difference between a verified, unverified, and official dedicated server? A verified server is a server that has gone through SCP:ET verification, and is bound to more rules than unverified servers. Unverified servers have not gone through SCP:ET verification, and may be dangerous to join. A warning will be displayed upon attempting to join an unverified server. Official servers are servers ran by SCP:ET developers, and are always verified.
What is the default port for dedicated and LAN servers? 27015
How do I join my friend/How can my friend join me/How do I get my server's IP/relay ID? Friends can be invited through direct invites on Steam and Discord. Additionally, friends can be joined through the "Join Friends" or the "Join Public Lobby" tab on the main menu. If these options don't work, you can type /ip in the chat to copy your IP/relay ID to your system clipboard (only the host can run this). Send the result to your friend(s) and they can direct connect to your server. Note for any of these options, if you're using LAN or a dedicated server, you'll need to port-forward.
I found a bug! Where do I report it? First of all, ensure that the bug you are reporting is not already known. All known bugs can be found on our Roadmap page. We are also aware of bugs involving map generation and high CPU usage. If the bug you found is not already known, please report it here.
I want to contribute! How do I do so? Join our Discord server and watch the #job-opportunities channel. We post in there when we are looking for users to join one of our teams. We are also always accepting art submissions to use in in-game art frames, and you may send us in-game assets that you've made, although there's no guarantee that they will be used. Submit art and assets to [email protected].
Why does SCP-173 look different? The original artpiece that the model is based on is copyrighted; thus, we cannot legally use it.
Will you provide a full list of SCP-294 drinks? No. The whole purpose of SCP-294 is for discovering the effects of various drinks, and we feel as though making an official list would defeat this purpose. Feel free to create your own SCP-294 lists.
How to Port Forward? https://www.wikihow.com/Set-Up-Port-Forwarding-on-a-RouterPlease note that you should only do this if you are hosting a Dedicated Server or a LAN lobby. If you just want to play with friends we recommend you use the Relay Host type. More info on that can be found on the "How do I join my friend/How can my friend join me/How do I get my server's IP/relay ID?" question.
Will there be a rework of the UI? Yes, once we have the resources to do so.
What operating systems are currently supported? We currently support Windows and Linux. We do not have any near-future plans to support MacOS. Do note that we do not have testers that use linux so please let us know if you encounter issues on linux builds using our Bug tracker board.
Is there a max player count? Not really, It is 16 by default on Dedicated servers and 5 by default on Lobbies, However there is a "Limit" which lobbies and servers will not show on the list, Which is 100 Slots.
How do relay lobbies work, do they need portforwarding and do they use a port? Relay lobbies route traffic through our servers, rmoving the need to portforward. Relays lobbies do not have a port, they have a 15 digit long code (also known as LobbyId or RelayId) which our server will use to find the lobby and Relay server you are trying to join.
Do I need to use an application like Hamachi to play the game with my friends? No, you can simply join a public server from the serverlist, or host a Relay lobby. For more info about Relay lobbies please refer to the "How do I join my friend/How can my friend join me/How do I get my server's IP/relay ID?" and "How do relay lobbies work and do they need portforwarding and do they use a port?" questions.

Future Game Plans

Question Answer
Is there a road map for this game? Features & Bugs Roadmap
Why does Escape Together use SCP:CB assets? SCP:ET currently uses assets from SCP: Containment Breach because we do not have the capabilities to make our own at the present time. However, all of the game's source code was written by us; none of the code present in the game is from SCP:CB.
Do you plan on continuing to use SCP: Containment Breach models and assets? We would like to move away from using these assets, however it is currently not possible or a priority.
Will the 106 be changed in the future? Yes, as this image has copyright.
Mod support? Yes, However it is currently not a priority and may take some time before it is published.
Will there be a VR mode? No, we do not have any intentions to implement VR support into Escape Together.

Questions Regarding Cryptocurrency Mining

Question Answer
I've heard that SCP: Escape Together is a cryptocurrency miner, is this true? No. SCP: Escape Together is not and will never be a cryptocurrency miner.
Why does SCP: Escape Together use up a lot of my PC's GPU/CPU while running? SCP: Escape Together's backend code, which lays the foundation for the rest of the code in the game, is severely outdated and is actively being rewritten to decrease CPU usage. The entire game relies on the Foundation code, just like a house relies on a foundation. Because this code is faulty, the rest of the game inherits these issues.
When can I expect an update that fixes the aforementioned issues? Rewriting foundational code takes a lot of time, as all of the code relying on it needs to be rewritten to support the foundation code. The code also is split up into multiple parts. Because of these reasons, we will be rolling out GPU/CPU fixes over time and multiple different updates, rather than one large fix. As the game progresses through early access, you should notice the GPU and CPU usage begin to decline per-update.
Is there any way to prove that the game is not a cryptocurrency miner? Yes! Decompiling the game and viewing its source code, or monitoring the game's network traffic are both viable solutions to testing to see if a game is a cryptominer, and are both free solutions.

Helpful Programs:
dnSpy - Allows for viewing all of the game's compiled code. After launching the program, open "Assembly-CSharp.dll", found in Game Files/SCP_ET_Data/Managed
Is there any way to improve GPU and CPU usage while I wait for upcoming updates? Until fixes on our end, disabling certain settings, such as shadows, will decrease the GPU and CPU usage in the meantime.
I have other questions, who can I contact? Reach out to us at [email protected] if you have any questions regarding SCP: Escape Together's cryptocurrency mining claims.

Questions Regarding Build Types

Question Answer
What are the different types of builds? There are four main different versions of builds: public, public beta, private beta, and demo builds.
What are the differences between each build? Public builds are builds that are ready to release publicly, on the default branch (no betas activated).
Public beta builds are similar to public builds, except they're made for beta testing. These builds have an automatically generated version.
Private beta builds are like public beta builds, except they are private. These builds have an automatically generated version.
Demo builds are their own kind of builds that are meant for displaying features and allowing users to join. This kind of build is typically only available for a certain amount of time, and typically limits the usage of Relay and LAN servers. These builds have an automatically generated version.
How do I gain access to the aforementioned build types? Public builds are available to everyone automatically, as they are the default build when launching the game with no betas. Public betas are also available to everyone, however they are only available when a release is live under the "BETAS" tab. Private betas are only available to users who meet specified criteria (including translators, verified server hosts, and Ko-Fi supporters). Demo builds are available to everyone, but are only available during SCP: Escape Together events.
I am on a private build, however when I try to play a game, the game says I do not have access. What do I do? You are not registered for the beta. This occurs when your Steam and Discord accounts are not linked to your SCP:ET account. You must create an account on the Identity site and follow the instructions to link your Steam and Discord here.
